In recent times, considerable amount of research has been reported regarding the embedding of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in polymer matrices in order to improve their mechanical, electrical and dielectric properties. Nano tubes show exceptional mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties that can be exploited as reinforcements for composite structures. However, another important characteristic of CNTs namely the magnetic properties has been less investigated. In the present work, floroelastomer-MWNT nanocomposite has been prepared. The effect of increasing MWNT loading on electrical and magnetic properties has been studied. Percolation threshold of the filler in floroelastomer as studied by magnetic and electrical conductivity has been investigated. The applicability of percolation scaling laws is also reported. |
