The practical aspects of Cp*Rh(III)-catalyzed direct C–H amidation with 1,4,2-dioxazol-5-ones will be discussed on the operational safety, use of green solvent, and scalability. In spite of a big wave of C-H direct functionalizations, a question on its industrial applicability still remains. After the successful development of a highly efficient C-H amidation reaction, we continued to investigate its practical aspects. The story of improvement from a toxic and explosive reaction to an environmetally benign, safe, operationally simple, and scalable system will be showcased. |
