MWNT (Multi-walled Carbon nanotube) has been received significant attention due to extraordinary mechanical, electrical, and thermal characteristics. MWNT has been used as fillers in matrices to take advantage of the improved properties of nanotubes. One main disadvantage is the difficulty in dispersion of MWNT in a polymer matrix because of strong van der Waals interaction. Chemical modification on MWNT surface is one of the most important approaches to overcome the problem due to improved adhesion between the polymer and MWNT. In this study, we report a composite consisting of modified MWNT dispersed within polystyrene matrices, mainly focusing on the thermal conductivity of the composites. |
