Synthesis and Characterization of Thermally Crosslinkable Fluorene Oligomers |

Fluorene Oligomers containing thermally crosslinkable end-groups were synthesized and their optical properties of the solutions and the films were characterized by UV-Vis absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Liquid crystalline behaviors of the oligomers were also examined by the polarized optical microscope and differential scanning calorimetry. Mono-domain films of cross-linked polymers were obtained by thermally curing the mono-domain oligomer films aligned on the rubbed polymer surface. The cured polymer films exhibit a much higher glass transition temperature and more robust mechanical properties, as compared with those of the oligomers. The detailed anisotropic characteristics of optical absorption and emission of the cured mono-domain polymer films film will be discussed. |
