Electromechanical Application of Functional Nanowire Composites |

A carbon nanotube/V2O5 nanowire hetero-film was fabricated in a bi-metal form by a successive filtration of the dispersed solutions of carbon nanotubes and V2O5 nanowires. Voltage biasing to the hetero-film in a NaCl electrolyte with the reference to the copper counter electrode induced a significant bending actuation. The amplitude of the actuation was proportional to the amplitude of the voltage, but decreased as the frequency of the voltage increased, indicating a slow process of the actuation such as ionic process in a liquid electrolyte. With these electromechanical properties of nanowire composites, the electrical properties of networked nanowire will be presented from the point of percolation phenomena. |
