The water-based polyurethane dispersions were prepared by the batch and semi-batch pre-polymer mixing process. After, carboxylic acid group in anionomers was neutralized with appropriate amount of triethylamine, water was added to form the polyurethane dispersion. These dispersions (Isocyanate was feed to the balance of pre-polymer in the reactor at a constant rate or one-shot), molecular weight and molecular weight distribution were controlled by batch and semi-batch process. In this case, polyurethane dispersion having properly selected bimodal and narrow molecular weight distribution allowed the preparation of high solid low viscosity polyurethane dispersion. In this study, prepared polyurethane dispersion was comparison with mechanical properties from batch and semi-batch pre-polymer mixing process. |
