Transparent PEDOT:PSS Electrode Doped with Silver Nanoparticles from One-Step Process forSurface Plasmon Resonance Effect in Polymer Solar Cells |

We demonstrate the enhanced light harvesting of active layer and conductivity of conducting polymer electrode by using the newly synthesized silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) from N-methyl-pyrrolidone (NMP) and UV irradiation for the polymer solar cells (PSCs). The PEDOT:PSS film doped with Ag NP in NMP (Ag:NMP-PH500 film) has shown the improved conductivity of 450 S/cm compared to a value (322 S/cm) of PEDOT:PSS film doped with NMP. Furthermore, the device performance of the PSC with Ag:NMP-PEDOT:PSS electrode shows the improved short circuit current (JSC) from 8.89 to 9.34 mA/cm2, fill factor (FF) from 0.43 to 0.53, and power conversion efficiency from 2.00 to 2.74%. These enhanced JSC and FF could be attributed to enhanced light absorption of active layer resulting from the surface plasmon resonance effect and reduced series resistance from the improved conductivity caused by Ag NPs with unique and excellent optical and electrical properties. |
