In the electrospinning process, polymer nanofibers with submicron-scale diameters are formed when a droplet of a viscoelastic polymer solution is subjected to a high voltage electrostatic field. Parameters of electrospinning like concentration, voltage, flow rate and distances were varied and an optimum condition of all the parameters was achieved to generate uniform nanofibers with minimal bead densities. Solvent is one of the factors to affect the morphology of nanofibers. In this study, we focused on electrospinning of polycarbonate fiber using various solvent such as dimethylformamide (DMF), tetrahydrofuran (THF), methylene chloride and formic acid. The microstructures of the electrospun polycarbonate fibers obtained were quantitively investigated by using scanning electron microscope (SEM). |
