Previously, we have reported a new series of discotic mesophase compound based on the triphenylene, hexakis-acryloyloxyalkyloxy-triphenylene [TP(OCnH2n+1OCOCH=CH2)6] where n corresponds to 6, 8, and 12 respectively. We can presumably assign the mesophase as discotic columnar for the last two compounds (n=8 and n=12) from the polarized optical microscopy (POM). For the compound (n=6), however, it is uncertain to determine the mesophase only from the POM. In this presentation, we will discuss the result of XRD study to investigate mesophase behavior of these compounds. |
