We were successful in fabricating highly efficient inorganic/organic hybrid electrolyte for dye-sensitized solar cells. Surface modified Au NPs were introduced in the electrolyte of DSSCs to enhance charge transfer process of I-/I3- redox couple in the electrolyte and at the interface in the DSSC. The hybrid electrolyte with Au NPs showed high ionic conductivity and good interfacial contact, resulting in higher overall power conversion efficiency at 1 sun condition (AM 1.5, 100mWcm-2, active area = 0.16cm2). Photocurrent density of DSSC using Au NPs embedded electrolyte increased compared to the without using Au NPs, whereas photovoltage was remained constantly. Enhancement of the photovoltaic performance for DSSC employing the hybrid electrolyte has been interpreted by UV-vis. spectroscopy as well as the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), along with photocurrent-voltage characterization. |
