Electrochemical actuator behavior of poly(vinyl alcohol)/poly(acrylic acid)/polyaniline composite hydrogel |

Poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)/poly(acrylic acid)(PAAc) hydrogel was prepared by radical polymerization and their electrochemical actuator characteristics were studied. To improve the conductivity of hydrogel, the conducting polyaniline was dispersed into PVA/PAAc solution or coated on the hydrogel by in situ polymerization. pH-dependent swelling of hydrogel was investigated in several different buffer solutions under electric voltages applied. PVA/PAAc/polyaniline composite hydrogels showed both pH-responsive and electrochemical actuation behavior. These composite hydrogels can be applied in the drug delievery system and the artificial organ components. |
