제목 Cell-adhesive nanopost height controls pre-osteoblast phenotype
초록 A biomimetic approach to generate nano-patterned surface is critical for scaffold design in tissue engineering. We hypothesized that the height of cell-adhesive nanoposts on a scaffold surface could be a key factor to regulate the proliferation and differentiation of pre-osteoblasts. Nano-patterned surfaces were fabricated using self-assembly of polystyrene-b-poly(ethylene oxide)/dodecylbenzensulfonic acid (PS-b-PEO/DBSA) complex systems. PS nanopost heights were controlled through the film thickness and were ranged from 11 to 43 nm. Adhesion and growth of MC3T3-E1 cells were greatly influenced by varying PS nanopost heights. Differentiation of the cells was also tested under osteogenic conditions for 14 days. Expression levels of RUNX2 and osteocalcin, a typical marker of osteogenic differentiation, were also substantially affected by PS nanopost heights.
