제목 Gas Permeability of LDPE Films Containing Surface-Modified Zeolite Powder

The effect of zeolite powder on the gas permeability of LDPE films was investigated. The gas permeability and selectivity of the films containing surface-modified zeolite powder with various cations were characterized by permeability measurements for N2, O2 and CO2 gases. The gas permeabilities of the films were measured in a gas permeability apparatus based on the variable volume method. All measurements were carried out at room temperature. The permeability of N2, O2 and CO2 gases were individually determined, and the ideal selectivity between gases were determined by calculating the ratio of the pure gas permeabilities. The permeability of the films containing zeolite powder had a tendency to increase with zeolite loading regardless of the type of cations. Among the substituted cations used in this study, the film modified by cationic surfactant (n-hexadecyldimethylammonium bromide) seemed to be less affected by the loading. This result may be responsible for the adhesion between powder and base film. The permeability of O2 and CO2 increased with the powder loading, while that of N2 showed no great difference. Of all the films, the films modified with cations (Al3+, Ag3+) showed the best separation capability of O2 from N2.
