제목 Preparation of polymer nano particles for high-efficiency particulate air filter tests
초록 High-efficiency particulate Air (HEPA) filters have been generally used for separation and isolation of aerosols, toxic dusts, also for applications with most critical requirements for air purity in clean room. The HEPA filters have to remove 99.97 % of about 0.3 m size particles by their performance requirements. Dioctyl phthalate (DOP) aerosol has been widely used in testing HEPA filters. However, the DOP aerosol has some problems such as its wide size distribution and toxic property. The polymer nano particles are prepared for testing HEPA filters by emulsion polymerization. The effects of reaction temperature, concentrations of stabilizer and initiator, and shear force for agitation on the size distribution are rigorously studied. The tests using the prepared polymer nano particles are also carried out to assess their possibility as an alternative of DOP aerosols in testing HEPA filters.
