Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are used for various applications such as mobile electronics, drones, electric vehicles and energy storage systems due to their high energy density and long cycle life. To increase their energy density, it is necessary to develop LIBs that can be operated at high voltages. One of the most promising strategies to enhance their high-voltage performance is to use functional additives. In our work, we added various additives, such as silane, thiophene, borate and phosphazene into liquid electrolyte and investigated their electrochemical characteristics. By employing these electrolytes, high-voltage cycling performance of graphite/LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 cells was evaluated. We also investigated how these additives could enhance the high-voltage cycling stability by various analysis techniques. |
