제목 | Effect of alkyl side-chains on the charge transport in cyclopentadithiophene-based polymer semiconductors |
초록 | Although the cyclopentadithiophene (CPDT) moiety has been applied to various optoelectronics applications, it is rarely used in organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) because of the steric hindrance caused by the tetrahedron center of the CPDT core. In this study, three types of bulky CPDT-based copolymers were synthesized using linear and branched alkyl side-chains. Optical,electrochemical, crystallographic, and morphological analyses were conducted in order to study the effects of alkyl chains. We found that bulky CPDT improves molecular ordering and thereby increases hole mobility. As a result, promising hole mobilities of up to 1.08–1.64 cm2 V−1 s−1 were achieved with the optimized OFETs. Through this study, we present a new strategy to improve the crystallinity of conjugated polymers with a view to improving the charge carrier mobilities. |
