제목 A light-triggered drug delivery system using gold nanorods
초록 The study and application of gold nanorods(GNRs) as near-infrared (NIR) responsive materials which allow deeper penetration into skin and tissues without significant damage to surrounding cells and enable noninvasive treatments in diverse diseases have received considerable attention over recent years in the field of cancer photothermal therapy. In our system, the localized heat originated from GNRs upon NIR irradiation was further utilized to trigger drugs from cargos through two thermally controlled drug delivery systems in chemotherapy; (i) a GNR-contained hybrid membrane able to accelerate a diffusion rate from a drug reservoir and (ii) drug-conjugated GNRs available to provide a pulsatile release by expediting a chemical cleavage. In both systems, remotely switchable on-demand drug release was recorded using UV-vis spectroscopy and fluorimeter and in-vitro experiments were further performed to demonstrate high efficacy of our versatile systems in biomedical technologies.
