Dynamic properties of anisotropic particles, PTFE latex, in aqueous hydrophobically end-capped poly(ethylene oxide) urethane resin (HEUR, C12EO225C12) (probe-polymer interaction system) and poly(ethylene oxide) (probe-polytmer noninteraction system) solutions was studied by polarized and depolarized dynamic light scattering. Rotational diffusion and translational diffusion of PTFE latex particle in HEUR and PEO solutions were interpreted using stretched exponential, D=D0exp(-αcν). Stretched exponential that is applied to translational diffusion was sensitive to interaction between probe and polymer. Though rotational diffusion was also applied to this, it is not sensitive to interaction between probe and polymer. Decreasing of the quotient DR/DT plot was examined in probe-polymer interaction system. In probe-polymer noninteraction system, dropping of DR/DT was not observed. Based on these experimental results, we propose adsorption process of HEUR molecules onto PTFE latex. |
