An Oriented, Hydrophobic, and Siliceous Deca-Dodecasil 3R (DDR) Zeolite Membrane for Carbon Dioxide Separation |
초록 |
An all-silica deca-dodecasil 3R (DDR) zeolite has pore size of 0.36*0.44 nm2. The DDR zeolite is highly advantageous for CO2 (0.33 nm) separation from N2 (0.364 nm) via molecular-sieve effects. For the first time, we obtained h0h-oriented, hydrophobic DDR zeolite membranes through the epitaxial growth using a structure directing agent (SDA) of methyltropinium iodide. The degree of the out-of-plane orientation and inter-growth was increased with the hydrothermal reaction time, while decreasing the defects. The DDR membrane showed a CO2/N2 separation factor (SF) of up to 15.9 at 50 ⚬C in the presence of water vapor. The transport of the larger N2 molecule was more suppressed by H2O molecules adsorbed on the membrane surface; it seems that this surface resistance was due to the hydrophobicity of the highly siliceous DDR membrane and helpful for increasing CO2/N2 SFs under wet conditions. |
