Succinic acid is an important feedstock chemical used as a precursor for various chemical products including pharmaceuticals, feed additives and green solvents. Recently great effort has been made for the production of succinic acid from renewable carbohydrates by microbial fermentation. In this study, we investigated the production of succinic acid using chemically defined media with glucose as the carbon source under anaerobic condition. Instead of complex components, a selection of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids was supplied to maintain the microbial growth and succinic acid production. |
