Optimized Conditions for High Performance of Thin Film Composite Reverse Osmosis Membranes |
초록 |
Forty-two Thin Film Composite Reverse Osmosis (TFC RO) membranes were prepared under various concentrations of m-phenylenediamne (MPD) in water and trimesoly chloride (TMC) in hexane (MPD/TMC monomer ratio from 2.5 to 150) using interfacial polymerization (IP) to understand the relationship of membrane performance with the physicochemical properties such as surface properties, film thickness, chemical structure and density. SEM analysis was used to confirm the surface morphologies of the obtained TFC RO membranes, and AFM analysis was used to obtain the surface area and the thickness of the polyamide selective layer. Water flux and salt rejection of TFC RO membranes were measured under 16 bar at 25 °C in cross-flow typed equipment. The best performance of 55 LMH of salt water flux and 99% of salt rejection were obtained in the concentration of 1.0 wt.% of MPD and 0.025 wt.% of TMC (40 of MPD/TMC ratio). |
