Recent researches on boron nitride materials as efficient catalysts are drawing a growing attention in the fields of industrial catalysis. However, boron nitride materials with high specific area, which is critical to improve the catalytic efficiency, have rarely been reported due to difficulty in preparation of stable dispersions of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and boron nitride nanotube (BNNT). In this presentation, we report a simple way to disperse BNNTs with poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) in an organic solvent, which instantaneously forms porous microstructure during freeze and vacuum dry process. Experimental parameters such as relative concentration of P4VP and BNNTs, crosslinking degree of P4VP by dibromobutane, and crystal size of frozen solvent during freeze-dry are optimized in order to prepare BNNT migrogels with high porosity and mechanical strength. |
