Polydiacetylenes (PDAs) are often used as smart sensing materials because it have unique color change characteristics from blue to red. Chromaticity properties have been caused by stimuli such as temperature, pH, mechanical stress and environmental stresses including solvent exposure. Recently, many studies have been conducted to immobilize PDAs on various polymers such as films or membranes for various applications. Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAm) has a low critical solution temperature (LCST) property in aqueous solution at about 32 ° C. Therefore, the cross-linked PNIPAm microgel have discontinuous volume changes. In this study, we prepared PNIPAm microgel as a matrix polymer to immobilize PDA vesicle. We observed that the low temperature is required to induce color change of immobilized PDA vesicle from blue to red, compared to pure PDA vesicle dispersion. |
