제목 Synthesis and application of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) based thermosensitive microgels for smart window
초록 Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) microgels are known to be temperature sensitive. The application of PNIPAM to thermotropic smart window has been investigated to replace low performance of VO2 inorganic materials which requiring large vacuum equipment. For commercialization, the critical temperature around 30 oC and proper transmittance before and after critical temperature are very important factors. We prepared the PNIPAM microgel by in-situ polymerization and placed between two glasses. The interval of the glasses varied from 0.2 mm to 2 mm. At above critical temperature, the sample shows low transmittance and at below critical temperature, high transmittance. Also, phase change speed is fast. From these results, PNIPAM material can be considered good candidate for smart windows.
