Study on the surface modified gold nanoparticles with polystyrene for polystyrene nanocomposite film in organic memory devices |

This work focuses on the preparation of gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) stabilized by thiol end-capped polystyrene (PS) and their applications in organic memory devices. The end-functionalized polystyrene was prepared through reversible addition and fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) technique using dibenzyltrithiocarbonate (DBTTC) as a chain transfer agent. The resulting polymer was successfully used as polymeric surface modifier in two-phase gold nanoparticle synthesis process. The size and content of the Au-NPs were regulated by adjusting the molar ratios between thiol end-capped PS to HAuCl4. PS thin films containing the nanoparticles were prepared and applied to the fabrication of organic memory devices. The characteristics of the nanocomposites and the devices were investigated.
