제목 Pulse electrodeposition and characterization of Ni-TiB2 composite coatings
초록 Nickel-titanium boride composite coatings were successfully fabricated by pulse electro-deposition process at rectangular shaped pulse wave form with 100 Hz pulse frequency. The effect of different pulse duty cycles as well as TiB2 concentration in the electrolyte on the co-deposition behavior, morphological, microstructural, and microhardness of the composite coatings were examined and evaluated. The composite coatings prepared under 50% pulse duty cycles with 10 g/L TiB2 content in the plating bath has shown better Vickers microhardness as compared to pure nickel electro-deposit. TiB2 has been found to be homogeneously dispersed in nickel matrix. As compared to the direct current electrodeposited coatings, effect of pulse current has not only modified the nickel crystallite grains but also enhanced the higher incorporation of the TiB2 particles and increased the hardness of the electrodeposits. The XRD patterns have revealed that the preferred (100) orientation of pure nickel has been modified into mixed orientations by the enhancement of (111) and (311) and attenuation of (100) crystalline orientations by the incorporation of TiB2 particles into the deposit.
