Preparation of Biodegradable PCL Scaffold Containing Cuttlebone |

Recently, increasing attention has been paid to bioresorbable composites made of polymers and ceramics for reconstruction of multi-tissue organs, tissue interfaces and structural tissue including bone. Our group developed biodegradable and bioresorbable composites, combining gelatin with tricalcium phosphate (TCP) for bone regeneration. In this study, polycaprolactone (PCL) and cuttlebone composites were fabricated using salt leaching technique. These composites proved to be biocompatible and when loaded with osteoblasts, sustained osteogenic expression. The new generation of composites should not only provide the mechanical architecture to support cell attachment but must enhance cell growth as well. |
