Ethylcellulose (EC) microcapsules containing polyvinyl alcohol-epoxypropoxy coumarin (PE) were prepared by spray drying water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion. 1%, 3% and 5% (w/v) PE was dissolved in distilled water. EC (5%, w/v) in dichloromethane was used as an oil phase containing emulsifier (Span 80). The water and oil mixture was homogenizing at 16,000 rpm for 10 min. As time passed, stability of the emulsion was evaluated by using optical microscope and phase separation. After UV irradiation or not, the emulsion was spray drying to obtain PE containing EC microcapsules. It was observed morphology by SEM image and photo-dependent release properties of the microcapsules were investigated using florescein FITC-dextran. |
