Preparation and Characterization of Halogen Free-Flame Retardant Composite with improved Heat Resistance |

The heat resistance of maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene cross-linked by electron beam irradiation was investigated. Trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TMPTMA) can be used as a crosslinking agent for composites and is an additive that can improve the heat resistance. The crosslink density of a polypropylene network structure can be determined by swelling in hot xylene (130℃). The thermal aging test of composites was performed under the condition of 158℃. The crosslinking density and mechanical properties of the composite containing 3% of TMPTMA showed the highest value at 90% and 15 MPa, respectively. In conclusion, the improvement of heat resistance of cross-linked polypropylene with the addition of TMPTMA was also confirmed. |
