This presentation will focus on the development of novel biomimetic materials for tissue engineering applications. One strategy to produce biomimetic materials includes incorporation of bioactive signals, commonly derived from extracellular matrix, via chemical modification of biodegradable materials to elicit specific interactions with surrounding cells to direct desired tissue function. As an approach to provide structural cues ranging nano-sized features, electrospinning processes and their practical applications will be also discussed during the presentation. |
