Pd/C catalysts were prepared from different methods and their effects were compared in biphenol hydrogenation. The catalysts were characterized by XPS, TEM, XRD, OHTC (oxygen-hydrogen titration methods). In biphenol hydrogenation, C=C bond hydrogenation was performed preferentially followed by C=O bond hydrogenation. The initial activity(C=C hydrogenation) and the yield to BHD, the final product, were different from the selection of the catalysts. The textural structure of support, distribution of palladium metal on the support, the range of particle size seemed to be the main factors in determining the catalyst performance. |
