제목 Preparation of Poly(styrene) particle by surfactant-free emulsion polymerization using PMAA macro RAFT agent
초록 In this study, a well-defined homopolymer of poly (methacrylic acid) [PMAA] has been synthesized by RAFT bulk polymerization. It was confirmed that the PMAA macro RAFT agent is effective stabilizer in the emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization of polystyrene without any surfactant. The chemical structure of the synthesized PS with the PMAA macro RAFT agent was confirmed using FTIR, of which the block copolymer contains a hydrophilic PMAA block and a hydrophobic PS block. In this polymerization, the reaction leads to a stable latex, as a result of the in-situ micelle formation of an amphiphilic block copolymer stabilizer. It was confirmed that the macro RAFT agent is present on the particle surface via the XPS measurement.
