Effective hydrogen production from ethanol stream reforming on CoMg co-doped core@shell SiO2@Co1-xMgxO |

This study examined the catalytic activities on ethanol steam reforming (ESR) of core@shell structured SiO2@Co1-xMgxO materials as well as the promotion effect of magnesium for hydrogen production. The ethanol conversion and hydrogen yield increased, and the carbon coke deposition and CO emission were suppressed by magnesium loading onto SiO2@CoO. The oxygen transfer from MgO supporter (or improver) to Co main catalytic species during ESR might play a role maintaining a partially oxidized Co state. In the longevity test, the SiO2@Co1-xMgxO core@shell material, despite being the catalyst re-used 3rd times, exhibited a superior hydrogen production for 100 h without structural collapse and coke formation. |
