제목 Modification of Micro-Sized Gold Surface by Chemisorption of Polymer Spheres Containing Thiol Group
초록 A strategy for producing thin films of organic material on surfaces has been to use sulfur chemisorption as a point of attachment to metals. Formation of Self-Assembled Monolayers(SAMs) on a gold substrates has been developed for a variety of applications such as metal surface modification and biosensor.1 In this study, two families of well-defined organic-inorganic hybird particles have been synthesized by chemisorption of polymer spheres with thiol group onto gold surface. Thiol-functionalized polymer spheres were obtained by two methods : polycondensation of alkanedithol and dibromoalkane in the presence of a crosslinked polystyrene latex2 and substitution reaction of poly(4-bromostyrene-styrene-divinylbenzene) latex with 1,3-propanedithiol. In the first method, a crosslinked polystyrene particles were prepared by soap-free emulsion polymerization. The immobilization of the mercapto group was characterized by UV/vis spectroscopy, and the molar ratio of dithiol to dibromide afforded polymer spheres with high mercapto group contents and the size of polymer spheres. In the second method, the thiol contents were determined by controlling the molar ratio of 4-bromostyrene to styrene. The resulting materials were characterized by NMR, DSC, TGA, and XPS. It was found that gold surface was covered well with the copolymer latex as monolayer by SEM. Figure 1 shows a S 2p XPS spectra for polymer spheres on the gold surface. The interaction of the sulfur headgroup with the gold surface can be revealed by examining S 2p photoemission spectra.3 Figure 2 shows SEM results of gold surface morphology adsorbed by different polymer spheres.
