Polyamide 12 (PA12) is one of important engineering polymers which is widely used in various industrial fields owing to its superior properties such as flexibility, high impact resistance as well as low density, impermeability and chemical resistance. It can be synthesized by polycondensation of ω-aminolauric acid or ring-opening polymerization of laurolactam. Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) has been reported to be excellent nanofiller for improving thermal, mechanical, gas barrier, electrical and flame retardant properties of polymers at relatively low filler loading. In this study, PA12/rGO nanocomposites were synthesized by in-situ ring opening polymerization and in-situ polycondensation in the presence of rGO. Morphology, thermal, electrical and mechanical properties of the nanocomposites were characterized to understand the structure-property relationships. |
