Crystalline Structures, Melting, and Crystallization of Linear Polyethylene in Cylindrical Nanopores |
초록 |
The physical behaviors of polymers under nanoscopic confinements have been of scientific interest during the past few decades. Investigation of polymer crystallization behavior within nanoscopic confinements is an important area in polymer physics due to the potential applications of crystalline polymers as well as scientific interest. Here, we show the crystalline structures associated with melting and crystallization behaviors of monodisperse linear polyethylene confined in cylindrical nanopores using XRD and calorimetric measurements. The crystalline structures, melting and crystallization behaviors of PE under the imposed confinement were noticeably different from those of the bulk state. The isothermal crystallization experiments showed that the overall crystallization of polyethylene in nanopores was dominated by the nucleation rather than the growth of crystallites. The melting temperature and crystallinity of polyethylene in the nanopores was substantially depressed. |
