Study on cellular responses to surface modified chitosan scaffold |

Biocompatibility and biodegradation of implants are important to improve their functionality. Chitosan is derived from chitin of shellfish and used widely as biomaterial. In this study, we used chitosan to prepare biodegradable scaffold. The reason using chitosan is because chitosan has excellent biological chatateristics, such as biocompatibility, biodegradeability, non-toxicity, and non-immunogenetics. In this study, we investigated the effect of surface modification on cell attachment and growth to chitosan scaffold. It was confirmed that surface modification considerably enhanced the biological activity of the chitosan scaffold. |
