N-MWCNTs/nylon 6,6 composites were fabricated from nylon 6,6 and nitrogen-doped MWCNTs by using twin screw melting extruder for improve their physical properties. N-MWCNTs were prepared by annealing the MWCNTs-OH (hydroxyl multi-walled carbon nanotubes) through the pyrolysis method. Formation of N-MWCNTs were measured with FT-IR, XPS and FE-SEM. Through this, it was confirmed that MWCNTs were doped with 5 kinds of nitrogen of pyrrolic, pyridinic, quaternary, and oxidized Nitrogen. The interfacial adhesion energy between N-MWCNTs and nylon 6,6 was higher than that between pristine MWCNTs and nylon 6,6. N-MWCNTs/nylon 6,6 composites were also showed better MWCNT dispersion than pristine MWCNTs/nylon 6,6 composites. As a result, N-MWCNTs/nylon 6,6 composites showed mechanical properties than pristine MWCNTs/nylon 6,6 at the same 1wt% content. |
