The Composite membranes were prepared by incorporation of metal organic framework (MIL-100 Fe) into natural polymeric matrix (chitosan membrane) for the removal of anionic dyes from the wastewater. The composite membranes were fabricated with embedding MIL-100 Fe with varying concentration of 0%-25% into chitosan polymeric matrix. The prepared membranes were examined for characterization such as hydrophilicity, surface morphology, porosity, permeability, dye rejection percentage and, anti-fouling properties. Anionic dyes (Methyl Orange, Acid Red 4, Reactive Blue 4) were studied for the nanofiltration with varying concentration. The hydrophilicity, permeability, dye rejection percentage and anti-fouling properties of composite Chitosan/MIL-100 Fe membranes were successfully higher compared to the pristine chitosan membrane. This result shows that the MIL-100 Fe is a potential material for fabricating hybrid NF membranes for the anionic dyes removal from wastewater treatment. |
