Hydrate-based gas separation can be one of the promising solutions for SF6 separation. In this study, structural, thermodynamic, and kinetic characteristics of SF6 hydrate were investigated as preceding research for hydrate-based SF6 separation. SF6 hydrate was identified as structure Ⅱ through powder X-ray diffraction. The influence of reaction media (bulk water, hollow silica, and porous silica gel) on hydrate stability was investigated by measuring three-phase equilibria (H - Lw - V) of SF6 hydrate formed in various reaction media. The reaction media did not have significant thermodynamic effects but showed differences in the hydrate formation kinetics during SF6 hydrate formation. The addition of surfactants resulted in the remarkable acceleration of SF6 hydrate formation, which was observed through gas uptake experiment and in-situ Raman spectroscopy. This study is expected to give a better understanding of SF6 hydrate formation behavior in various reaction media and surfactants. |
