Diblock copolymers spontaneously assemble into nanostructures such as spheres, cylinders, and lamellae, of which the size and morphology can be regulated by the molecular weight and volume fraction of copolymers. We first synthesized diblock copolymers with various reactive blocks including activated esters and crosslinkable units by the reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. Then, wefunctionalizedthe nanostructures of diblock copolymers by post-polymerization reactions. For example, nanoparticles were introduced into the nanostructures by converting the activated ester units to the thiol functional groups. The nanostructures were also functionalized by organic fluorophores. In addition, the thermally stable nanostructures were obtained by the cross-linking reaction. |
