Polyamide6(PA6)/polypropylene(PP) alloys have used in many application due to the a variety of benefit. However, PA6/PP alloys have a limitation to improve the mechanical properties because PA6/PP alloy is immiscible and PP has the low mechanical properties. In this study, modified polypropylenes(m-PPs) were prepared by reactive extrusion using twin screw extruder, and then PA6/m-PP alloys were preapared with compatibilizer. Modification of PP increased the processability and mechanical properties rather than neat PP by introducing crosslinkg structure selectvely. Also, the addition of compatibilizer improved the impact strength of PA6/m-PP alloys. It is confirmed that size of m-PP particle, dispersed to PA6 matrix, decrease from SEM images. Consequently, the use of m-PP could improve the mechanical properties of PA6/m-PP alloys without deterioration of processability by addition of compatibilizer. |
