Effect of Keratin/poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) hybrid scaffold for chondrogenesis |

Keratin is the major structural fibrous protein providing outer covering such as hair and nail. We examined the effect of Keratin/PLGA scaffold for chondrogenesis. Keratin/PLGA scaffolds were prepared by solvent casting/salt leaching method. All scaffolds were characterized using SEM. Cell proliferation was measured by MTT test. Morphological observation, immunohistochemistry, biological assay for collagen and PCR were performed. This study suggests that PLGA/Keratin scaffold may serve as a potential cell delivery vehicle for in vitro tissue engineered articular cartilage. This research was supported by SCRC (SC4100). |
