Preparation and Characterization of Shape-Memory Polymer Networks Having Multiple Transitions |

Shape memory polymer networks having two transitions are investigated for the triple shape-properties. The polyurethane/poly(ethyl methacrylate) networks were synthesized by blending the polyurethane network with poly(ethyl methacrylate) in the presence of EGDMA as cross-linking agent, while the reactions between the polymer networks were followed by FTIR. The static and dynamic mechanical properties of polymer networks were characterized by UTM and DMTA, respectively. DMTA and DSC results showed two glass transitions for triple-shape memory networks, where the transition temperatures were determined depending on the molecular parameters such as cross-link densities of each polymer. It was found that shape memory properties as well as mechanical and thermal properties have significantly been improved by introducing networks. The polymer networks showed triple-shape memory properties. |
