Application of Silicon Nanowires in Crystalline Silicon Solar Cell |

Many researches have been performed to improve light absorption in the crystalline silicon solar cell. Pyramid-textured silicon surface with additional vertical silicon nanowires has lower reflectivity in short wavelength than for pyramid texture itself. It indicates the silicon solar cell with silicon nanowires can absorb more light in UV region in order to improve the conversion efficiency. In this work, we investigated the different structures of pyramid-textured silicon surface with and without additional silicon nanowires. Silicon nanowires were formed by wet chemical etching of silicon(100) substrate in HF and AgNO3 solution at room temperature. Experiment results show that silicon nanowires was lengthened with etching time increase in range of 30~120sec. With this structure change, the weighted reflectance on silicon surface measured by UV-Spectrophotometer was increased from ~5.7% with etching time 30 sec to 17.4% with 120sec. Silicon nanowires application to crystalline silicon solar cell is the potential way to improve efficiency with optimized structure. |
