Among various conducting polymers (CPs), polypyrrole (PPy) is most promising materials in view point of low operating voltage, ease of synthesis, and good environmental stability. In this study, the construction of a new solid state CP actuator based on PPy /carbon black (CB) nanocomposite film electrodes and a solid polymer electrolyte (SPE), polyurethane/Mg(ClO4)2, was accomplished. PPy/CB nanocomposite film was electrochemically polymerized from aqueous dispersions of pyrrole monomer containing CB. Polyurethanes were synthesized using a two-step method based on PTMG, MDI, and 1,4-BD. SPEs with various Mg(ClO4)2 contents were prepared by solution casting method. And we prepared nanocomposite film/SPE/nanocomposite film tri-layer actuator. The addition of a small amount of CB dramatically reduced the sheet resistance of nanocomposite film. Also nanocomposite film gave good electrical contact over the entire actuator. |
