Hydrogels are widely studied as materials for various biomedical applications like implant, drugs and cell delivery carriers due to their biocompatibility, high water contents and excellent permeability for nutrients and metabolites. Particularly, in situ forming hydrogels have received much attention as injectable scaffolds for tissue regeneration because of the minimal invasive technique. In this study, novel in situ forming hydrogels by enzyme triggering were developed with Tetronic-tyramine (Tetronic-TA) conjugates as injectable scaffolds for tissue regeneration. Tetronic-TA hydrogels were rapidly formed under physiological conditions in the presence of horseradish peroxidase and H2O2. Tetronic-TA hydrogels also showed improved mechanical strength and biocompatibility. Therefore, the obtained results demonstrate that Tetronic-TA hydrogel has potential of superior injectable hydrogel for tissue regeneration. |
