Synthesis and Characterization of Polyimide-Silica Hybrid Films by Site-selective Nanohybridization |

Organic-inorganic hybrid materials have been widely studied due to their properties, which can be modulated by controlling the preparation methods and their composition. In this study, Polyimide-silica hybrid films were prepared by sol-gel process from tetramethoxysilane (TMOS), 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (ATS) and polyamic acids with different pendant group. Surface and bulk properties of the polyimide-silica hybrid film was controlled by changing chemical structure of the polyamic acids and mole ratio of alkoxysilane derivatives (ATS and TMOS) to polymer repeating unit. Morphology of the polyimide silica hybrid films was investigated by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The size of the silica particles of polyimide-silica hybrid film was ranged from 10nm to 60nm, which was site selectively distributed according to chemical structure of the polyamic acids. Further, dielectric constant of polyimide-silica hybrid film was increased to 6.1, which is much higher than those of the corresponding polyimides without nano sized silica particles. |
