Thermally conductive PI/h-BN nanocomposite films with high anisotropy |

The use of polymeric materials in versatile applications is increasing for weight loss, low cost, facile processability and high performance. Also, the effective heat release of electronic devices, LED back panel and automobile part have gained much attention to improve durable performance. But polymers have inherently low thermal conductivity from 0.1 to 0.5 W/m.K and therefore, high thermal conductive polymer composite is one of the most important issues in these fields. In this work, the thermally conductive polymer composite films based on polyimide and ℎ-BN were prepared by a casting method. The idea of the delamination of hexagonal boron nitride (ℎ-BN) was explored by ball milling with ammonia-borane and functionalization with octadecylamine. Their thermal diffusivities were measured by a laser flash method and were confirmed as function of filler content and delamination process with retaining the considerable flexibility of the composite films. |
