Catalytic performance evaluation of chemically deposited Cu4SnS4 (CTS) thin film for oxygen evolution reaction activity |

In the present work, for the first time, we have studied the catalytic performance evaluation of chemically deposited Cu4SnS4 (CTS) thin film for oxygen evolution reaction activity (OER). The CTS thin films are deposited on nickel foam (NF) using successive ionic layer deposition and adsorption (SILAR) technique. The effects of SILAR deposition cycles on the OER activity of CTS films are evaluated using the electrochemical polarizing technique. The structural, microstructural and electrochemical properties of the films are studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques (EIS), respectively. The optimized SILAR cycle deposited CTS film possess the lower overpotential of 356 mV with lower Tafel slope of 30 mV dec-1 and excellent stability retention of 84 % for 24 h. The presented results provide new platform for employing photovoltaic CTS compound as a catalyst in OER activity. |
